What we collect on this site, why, and how to get rid of it.

Who runs this site

56 for Mums is a community fundraising campaign run by S2F Painting in Brisbane, raising money for Mummy's Wish, a program of Rare Cancers Australia. This site is ours. Mummy's Wish and Rare Cancers Australia don't run it and don't have access to it.

What we collect

If you sign up for the challenge, we store your name and email address, whether you're doing it solo or in a team, your team name and join code if you have one, whether you've confirmed you're 18 or over, and whether you've chosen to show your name publicly.

Each activity you log stores a date, a distance, whether it was a walk or a run, and an optional note you write yourself. Please don't put anything in a note you wouldn't want stored.

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. We don't get your password and we can't see anything else in your Google account.

We don't collect payment details. Every donate button sends you to the official Mummy's Wish fundraising page, and any payment happens there under their privacy policy, not ours.

What's stored on your device

No advertising or tracking cookies. We keep three things in your browser's local storage: your sign-in token, a copy of your own participant details so the tracker loads quickly, and a note of whether you've dismissed the "add to home screen" tip. Signing out clears the first two.

What other people can see

Team names and team totals are public on the results page. Individual participants appear only in a top three, and only ever as a first name and last initial — never a full name, never an email address.

If you'd rather not be named at all, turn off Show my name publicly in your settings. You'll still hold your place and your kilometres still count; you'll just show as Anonymous. You can change this at any time, in either direction.

Emails we send

Sign-in links, a welcome when you join, and campaign emails through October — weekly progress, milestones, the final week, the 9 km, and a wrap-up in November.

Every campaign email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom that works without signing in, and you can switch them off in your settings. Sign-in links keep working either way, because you need those to get into your own tracker.

If you invite someone to your team, we email that address once with your name and your team name. We don't add them to anything or contact them again unless they sign up.

Hearing about next year

The challenge runs every October. When you sign up there's a checkbox — unticked, and you have to tick it yourself — asking whether you'd like to hear when it comes round again. If you tick it, we'll send you one email around September next year. If you don't, we won't contact you once this year's campaign is over.

We record the moment you gave that consent, because the law puts it on us to show we had it. You can turn it on or off whenever you like in your settings.

Who else touches your data

This site is built and hosted on Base44, which stores the data and sends our emails on our behalf. They collect basic usage analytics about visits to the site as part of running the platform.

The page loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google sees your IP address when the page loads. That's the only third-party request the site makes.

We don't sell your data, we don't share it with advertisers, and we don't pass your details to Mummy's Wish. If you donate, that's a separate transaction between you and them.

How long we keep it

Your registration and activities are kept per campaign year so past results stay readable — that's the point of the results page. Sign-in links expire at the end of the campaign (1 December), or after 30 days if that's later.

You can delete everything yourself, at any time, from your settings. That removes your registration and every activity you've logged, and it can't be undone.

Getting at your data, or complaining about us

You can see, change or delete your details from your settings page. If you'd rather we did it, or you want a copy of everything we hold, email hello@56formums.com.au and we'll sort it out.

If we handle it badly, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Children

You need to be 18 or over to register. Kids can take part through a parent or guardian's account, but they never have an account, a login, or an email address of their own.

When you add a child, we store only a first name or nickname, an age group (not a date of birth), their team, the kilometres you log for them, and your confirmation that you're their parent or guardian and agree to their name being shown. We never ask for a surname, photo, school, or contact details, and we never email a child.

Publicly, a child appears by their first name or nickname only, on the junior leaderboard and their team. You can hide their progress at any time. Their age group is seen only by you and, if you ask for them to join a team, that team's captain, along with your name so the captain knows whose child it is.

You can change or remove a child from your settings at any time. Removing them deletes their details and everything logged for them, and deleting your own account removes your kids too. Please don't put anything identifying about a child in an activity note.

Changes

If we change how any of this works, we'll change this page. If it's a significant change and it affects you, we'll tell you by email.

This is a plain description of what we actually do, not legal advice.
