About
56 for Mums — what it is, who it's for, and who's behind it.
What this site is
This is the home of the 56 for Mums Challenge, a community fundraising campaign raising money for Mummy's Wish, a program of Rare Cancers Australia that supports mums going through cancer treatment. Every October, participants walk or run 224 kilometres — the distance from Brisbane to Rainbow Beach — and ask their families, friends and colleagues to give to Mummy's Wish.
The site does three jobs. It tells the campaign's story and points donors to the official Mummy's Wish fundraising page. It lets participants sign up — solo for the full 224 km, or as a team sharing the distance — and then log every walk and run in a private tracker that marks progress along a ladder of real Queensland places, from Redcliffe to Noosa to Rainbow Beach. And it shows everyone's progress publicly, because visible kilometres are the argument for donating.
No payments are taken here. Every donate button goes to the official Mummy's Wish page, where donations are processed and are tax deductible.
Who it's for
Mums going through cancer, first — the whole point is the practical support Mummy's Wish gives them. Then everyone who walks: neighbours, work teams, school groups and families who want to do something concrete with their October, whether that's the full 224 km alone or a share of it with a team. And anyone who'd rather just donate — you don't need to walk a step.
Who builds it
56 for Mums was started by the Holevas family — Apostoli and Anna — and is run by their Brisbane painting business, S2F Painting. The campaign grew out of the family's annual January trip to Noosa and their own experience of cancer in the family. S2F Painting builds and pays for this site, and walks the challenge too; Mummy's Wish and Rare Cancers Australia receive every dollar raised.
Come back in October
The challenge runs 1–31 October every year. Registration opens ahead of each year's campaign — the best way to hear when is to take part once and tick the box, or just check back here.
